We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Warehouse/Forklift Person to join a dynamic team. If you have a passion for warehouse operations and experience in forklift driving, this opportunity is perfect for you. As a result of significant business growth, we are looking for a Warehouse Operative to join a production and manufacturing organisation based in the Waterlooville area.
As a Warehouse Person, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the warehouse. This includes receiving, storing, and dispatching goods, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring the warehouse remains organised and safe. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a team, and adherence to safety protocols. You will also be required to have a Full Driving licence as you will be using the company vans to pick up and deliver products. A forklift licence is required or an expired one would be fine.
Hours are Monday to Friday 09.30am to 5.30pm with breaks. Paid weekly and paid overtime. The starting salary is £12.70 per hour rising to £13.67 per hour after a qualifying period to go permanent with the company.
Key Responsibilities:- Receiving and Inspecting Goods: Unload incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of orders. Inspect items for damage and ensure all goods are in good condition. Process receiving paperwork and update inventory records.
- Picking and Packing: Accurately pick items based on customer or internal orders. Pack items securely for shipment, ensuring they meet quality standards. Label and prepare orders for dispatch. Drive the company van for deliveries and pickups.
- Inventory Control: Manage stock levels by conducting regular inventory counts and updates. Track stock movements in warehouse management systems. Rotate stock as necessary and monitor for any discrepancies.
- Shipping and Dispatch: Prepare outgoing orders for shipment by organising and loading goods. Coordinate with shipping carriers to ensure timely deliveries. Complete all necessary shipping documentation.
- Warehouse Maintenance: Keep the warehouse clean, organised, and free of safety hazards. Ensure all goods are stored in the correct locations and properly labelled. Adhere to FIFO (First In, First Out) or other relevant stock management practices.
- Operating Warehouse Equipment: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Load and unload trucks or shipping containers as required. Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Report any safety issues, equipment malfunctions, or hazards to management. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Team Player: Work closely with other warehouse staff and supervisors to meet daily goals. Assist in training new staff as needed. Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
