This is a frontline leadership role encompassing full process ownership for the day-to-day operation of the Warehouse. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the proper warehousing and inventory control of raw materials, finished goods, factory supplies and spare parts, ensuring the maximum utilization of warehouse facilities. The role also coordinates with the purchasing, manufacturing, and traffic departments to ensure proper receiving, transfer and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods, as well as coordinating with the marketing department on sales forecast trending and planning.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures effective utilisation of warehouse areas and observes proper loading, unloading, stocking and safe keeping of items to maintain the quality of finished goods to prevent product damage and avoid accidents and occupational hazards.
- Effectively monitors flow of goods and implements the required prioritisation method to ensure picks are being completed as required (e.g. oldest first or key account).
- Ensure all warehouse personnel have correct set up on Zebra and IFS to ensure efficient operations and real time tracking and monitoring.
- Coordinates with the purchasing department with regards to incoming deliveries of raw materials and supplies, ensuring they are booked into the ERP system within the agreed timescales.
- Coordinates with the planning, manufacturing and logistics department(s), regarding the transfer, dispatch or delivery of finished goods.
- Maintains the highest standards of customer service by immediately attending and resolving issues on product preparation before dispatch.
- Ensure all weekly customer shipping schedules are met in line with planned/promised dates.
- Ensure all stock discrepancies are being investigated and system updates are made once the issue is resolved.
- Create process maps and SOPs for all department activities ensuring employees are trained and compliant with department standards.
- Provide leadership and direction to all department personnel to ensure that there is an adequate resource plan and that employees are supported in their roles and have clear KPIs.
- Ensure high standards of health and safety across the site and workforce ensuring risk assessments are in place, accident investigations and site inspections are carried out as per the published schedule.
- Ensure accuracy of product inventory against system records by conducting regular stock taking.
- Evaluates inventory variance and implements preventative measures.
- Ensure good housekeeping within your areas of operation, including yards and external storage facilities.
The Candidate:
- Warehouse Management in the Manufacturing industry is preferable, but not essential.
- Standard Driving Licence and FLT licence is essential.
- Experience using ERP systems and IFS experience is a plus, but training will be provided.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good critical thinking skills with the ability to identify the cause of the issue and produce an intelligent solution.
