Role Overview

We are seeking experienced and adaptable Support Workers to join us on a temporary agency basis, providing outreach and housing support services across the Isle of Wight. This role involves assisting individuals who are rough sleeping, residing in emergency or temporary accommodation, or at risk of homelessness. You will manage a caseload, respond to referrals, and consistently uphold high professional standards while working flexibly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior experience in homelessness, housing, or complex needs who is confident working independently within an established service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to referrals concerning individuals sleeping rough
  • Conduct outreach visits throughout the Isle of Wight, including early morning welfare checks
  • Engage with and build trusting, professional relationships with people experiencing homelessness
  • Complete comprehensive needs and risk assessments
  • Provide short-term and intensive housing-related support
  • Assist clients in accessing benefits, healthcare, substance misuse services, and other relevant support
  • Support individuals in temporary accommodation to progress towards securing permanent housing
  • Liaise effectively with local authority teams and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and health & safety procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting individuals facing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges, or multiple disadvantages
  • Ability to assess and manage risk while working autonomously
  • Confidence in lone working within community settings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills for accurate case recording
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Right to work in the UK is mandatory. Please note, we are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this role.
  • Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
