The Successful Commercial Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of supporting the commercial function by assisting with contract management, pricing, customer relationships, financial analysis, and commercial governance. This role helps ensure the business maximises revenue, manages risk effectively, and delivers strong commercial outcomes across projects and client accounts.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years' experience within the construction sector and strong commercial acumen to include risk and compliance oversight, financial and data analysis, and effective client relationship management.
Working closely with the Operations Director and Commercial Director, the successful candidate will contribute valuable expertise while supporting the ongoing growth and development of the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and supporting the development of commercial proposals, quotations, and tender submissions to support business growth.
- Assisting with the review, negotiation, and administration of customer contracts to ensure accuracy and commercial viability.
- Maintaining organised and up-to-date commercial documentation, including pricing models, agreements, and contract variations.
- Monitoring contract performance, profitability, and key commercial KPIs, highlighting variances and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting financial modelling, forecasting, and detailed pricing analysis to inform commercial decision-making.
- Managing and strengthening relationships with key customers by supporting ongoing commercial conversations and service agreements/meetings on site.
- Identifying potential commercial risks and ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong commercial and financial expertise, including estimating, quantity surveying (QS), and reporting/analysis capabilities would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and support commercial decision-making across multiple projects.
