Are you an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a background in precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing? Do you enjoy driving continuous improvement, solving technical production challenges and improving manufacturing processes? We are supporting a leading aerospace manufacturing business in Bedhampton who are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving production processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Working closely with Production, Quality, Suppliers and Customers, you'll help ensure manufacturing and quality processes remain robust, efficient and compliant with industry standards. This is a varied role where you'll support both day-to-day manufacturing activities and longer-term improvement projects within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support manufacturing operations with technical and process engineering expertise
- Act as a liaison between Production, Quality, Suppliers and Customers on engineering issues
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and product lifecycle processes
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Support PFMEA, Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures
- Analyse production and quality data to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead and support continuous improvement and root cause investigations using tools such as: 8D, Six Sigma, A3, Root Cause Analysis
- Support quality, environmental, health and safety systems across manufacturing operations
- Participate in process and product audits
- Support training relating to manufacturing and quality processes
- Assist with validation and implementation of tooling, equipment and test systems
What you'll need
- Degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Experience within a precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Understanding of quality tools including: PFMEA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Aerospace industry experience
- Knowledge of AS9100, EASA or ISO14001 standards
- CAD experience
- Audit experience or training
- Experience working within cross-functional improvement teams
