Are you an experienced Appointed Person with hands-on port operations experience? We are currently looking to hire a Port Operative – Lifting AP in Portsmouth to support critical lifting operations while also contributing across all aspects of port activity. Immediate start available.

This is a specialist position where you will work closely with the Managing AP, assessing complex lifting tasks, preparing lift plans and drawings, and ensuring full compliance with all safety protocols and legislation. Alongside your lifting responsibilities, you will also undertake day-to-day Port Operative duties — from liaising with RN ships to supporting wider operational tasks across the site.

Circa £38,000 salary, depending on experience. BPSS clearance is required (or the ability to obtain it).

  • Proven experience planning and managing lifting operations
  • Fully conversant with LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, BS7121 and Liccon
  • Strong knowledge of port or industrial environments
  • Confident in preparing lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements
  • Comfortable using MS Office and smartphones for daily tasks
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK and eligible for BPSS clearance
