New Games Studio is looking for a highly skilled Senior UI Artist to join the team on a new unannounced project.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can help define the visual identity, feel, and motion language of the UI for a completely new game. The focus is on UI art, visual design, and hands-on Unity implementation, rather than owning the full UX design process.
We are looking for someone with strong experience creating UI for casual mobile games, a great eye for visual quality, and the ability to implement and polish UI directly in Unity. You should be self-reliant, organized, and comfortable taking ownership without needing close day-to-day direction.
Your Role
- Help define the look, feel, motion, and visual language of the UI for the project.
- Create high-quality UI art for screens, HUD elements, menus, buttons, icons, popups, rewards, and feature interfaces.
- Work hands-on in Unity to implement, polish, and maintain UI directly in-engine (Unity).
- Translate UX wireframes, game design needs, and visual direction into polished mobile UI.
- Create a UI that feels clear, responsive, satisfying, and aligned with the overall game style.
- Collaborate closely with game designers, art director, VFX/Animation, technical artists, developers, and producers.
- Help establish reusable UI components, visual rules, layout patterns, and implementation standards.
- Support the project’s UI style guide, including typography, iconography, color, hierarchy, motion, and interaction feedback.
- Support creating UI motion, transitions, animations, and visual feedback that improve clarity and game feel.
- Ensure UI assets and implementations are optimized for mobile performance, memory, readability, and different screen sizes.
- Identify UI-related visual, technical, or workflow issues and propose practical solutions.
Qualifications
- Significant experience creating UI for games, ideally casual or mobile free-to-play games.
- Strong hands-on experience implementing UI directly in Unity.
- Strong visual design skills, including layout, hierarchy, composition, color, typography, and iconography.
- Experience creating UI art for mobile screens, HUDs, menus, popups, buttons, icons, rewards, events, and feature flows.
- Experience working in Figma and creating clear design files, specs, or assets for implementation.
- Understanding of mobile UI constraints, including readability, touch targets, safe areas, aspect ratios, asset optimization, and performance.
- Understanding of UI performance in Unity, including canvas setup, batching, overdraw, draw calls, texture usage, layout rebuilds, and animation cost.
- Ability to work closely with UX and game design without needing to own the full UX process.
- Experience creating reusable UI components, style guides, design specs, or visual systems.
- Strong collaboration skills across art, UX, design, technical art, engineering, and production.
- A proactive, organized, and self-driven approach to your work.
Additional Experience
- Experience with Unity UI Toolkit is a merit.
- Experience working in agile or cross-functional game teams.
What Makes You Successful in This Role
- You are not waiting for tasks to be assigned; you investigate the game, understand UI needs, and push visual quality forward.
- You balance visual polish with production reality, knowing when to explore, simplify, polish, or make something reusable.
- You own the UI art for features from early direction to final in-engine implementation, while keeping stakeholders informed and aligned.
- You help establish a UI foundation that makes the project feel clear, polished, playful, and distinctly King.
Portfolio Requirement
A portfolio in English is required. It should showcase strong examples of mobile game UI, visual polish, motion, and ideally hands-on Unity implementation. We are especially interested in examples that show how you create the look and feel of a game UI from concept or direction through to final in-game result.
