Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a new casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe, and we’re looking for a Senior Meta & Content Designer to shape the meta layers, live events, and story-driven content that bring the world of Minecraft Blast to life. You will own complex features end to end, partnering with Creative Leadership to deliver progression systems, live ops frameworks, and content that drive long-term player engagement.
Your Role Within Our Kingdom
- Help shape the long‑term player experience of Minecraft Blast by crafting compelling meta systems, live events, and narrative‑driven content tailored for a broad casual audience.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director and Design Leads to define the game’s meta feature set and progression systems; act as the primary design driver for your areas.
- Partner with Economy Designers to thoughtfully integrate monetisation into progression loops and events, balancing player value and business goals.
- Design immersive content and event structures that deepen engagement and guide players through the game’s world, ensuring accessibility and clarity for casual audiences.
- Uphold high standards of design quality while balancing technical and production constraints; proactively surface risks and propose pragmatic trade‑offs.
- Clearly document features and systems, communicate progress and rationale, and incorporate feedback across all stages of development.
- Analyse trends in the mobile market and share insights through regular playtesting and competitive deconstructions to inform roadmap and iteration.
- Champion strong design practices across the team, contribute to the evolution of design methods and tools, and provide constructive, informal mentorship.
- Support production by breaking down design work, contributing to scheduling, and self‑managing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Skills to Create Thrills
- Experience in casual game, systems, or content design for mobile free‑to‑play, ideally with shipped or live‑operated features.
- Deep understanding of player motivations, F2P meta mechanics, progression systems, and live event design specific to mobile; track record of improving engagement/retention through your features.
- Strength in end‑to‑end ownership: pitching, scoping, executing, validating, and iterating complex meta/features with limited guidance.
- Comfortable partnering with Economy Design to integrate monetisation in a player‑first way; familiarity with KPI‑driven decision‑making.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to align cross‑functional partners around clear goals, specs, and success criteria.
- Strong market analysis habits (deconstructions, playtesting) to inform feature direction and best practices.
- Ability to prioritise, break down ambiguity, and deliver within technical and production constraints in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Unity is a strong advantage for prototyping and smooth implementation handoff.
- Bonus: familiarity with event frameworks, narrative/content pipelines, or tools that accelerate live ops.
