Overview

At King, how we invest in our people is central to how we grow and succeed. In this role, you'll sit at the heart of that, owning King-wide people costs and helping shape decisions that impact the entire organisation. Working closely with the Senior Finance Director, you'll act as a trusted partner and right hand, bringing clarity, structure, and insight to a complex, global business; from owning how we think about people investment, to enabling organisational evolution, to raising the bar on financial excellence – your impact will be both broad and deep. This role is for someone who thrives in complexity, brings clarity where others see noise, and wants to play a defining role in how King scales.

What You'll Do

  • Be a trusted partner at the centre of the business
  • Act as a key advisor and sounding board to the Senior Finance Director and corporate leadership
  • Bring clarity, structure, and constructive challenge to complex, high-impact decisions
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear, actionable insight and shape exec level narratives
  • Act as a key advisor to senior corporate stakeholders on critical cost and investment topics
  • Drive how King invests in its people
  • Lead the end-to-end view of King-wide people costs, collaborate in a matrixed org to get key inputs from the Commercial Cost team
  • Deliver accurate, transparent, and forward-looking plans across all planning cycles
  • Build better ways to understand, manage, and optimise one of our largest investment areas
  • Be accountable for the integrity, consolidation and financial stewardship of people cost, supporting
  • Drive improved visibility on productivity, cost efficiency, and return on people investment
  • Align inputs across a matrix organisation to ensure a single, consistent view of people cost
  • Raise the bar on quality and rigour
  • Define and embed decision-making frameworks for investment prioritisation and cost optimisation across King
  • Ensure outputs are robust, consistent, and trusted across the organisation
  • Define and standardise planning, reporting, and modelling frameworks across corporate finance
  • Continuously improve how we work – making processes simpler, smarter, and more scalable
  • Own and lead King-wide month-end processes and review for corporate cost areas; and consolidate and ensure alignment across people cost
  • Support how the organisation evolves
  • Partner with stakeholders to guide organisational planning and change
  • Provide financial clarity on investment choices and structural decisions
  • Help balance ambition with discipline as we scale
  • Support and provide insight into cost optimisation, efficiency, and productivity initiatives across the organisation
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team
  • Build and lead a team that combines strong technical foundations with commercial thinking
  • Create a culture of ownership, pace, and continuous improvement
  • Develop talent that can operate at increasing levels of impact
  • Build finance capability and ways of working across the wider I&O and Finance team
  • Connect corporate finance across King
  • Act as the finance anchor across corporate functions (HR, Finance, Legal, Workplace Management Etc.)
  • Drive alignment, consistency, and clarity across a complex cost base
  • Ensure a single, coherent financial view of remit
  • Navigate a highly matrixed organisation, aligning multiple cost owners and finance teams to deliver cohesive outputs
