We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and experienced Business Management Consultant to play a pivotal role in the efficient and effective operation of King Solomon High School. Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will ensure a safe, supportive, and well-maintained environment for our students and staff by taking responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the school's health & safety, site maintenance, legal compliance, policies, project management, external vendor contracts, IT, administration, and Data Protection (GDPR).
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety: Develop, implement, and monitor the school's health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and promoting a safe working and learning environment for all. This includes risk assessments, safety audits, and accident reporting.
- Site Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the school site and buildings, ensuring they are safe, secure, and well-maintained. This involves managing the Site Manager and their team, coordinating repairs and maintenance schedules, and ensuring the functionality of essential services.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure the school operates in compliance with all relevant legal and statutory requirements, including health and safety regulations.
- Policies: Develop, review, and implement school policies across various operational areas, ensuring they are up-to-date, legally sound, and effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
- Project Management: Lead and manage various school projects, including capital works, refurbishments, and other strategic initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- External Vendor Contracts: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, including negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and ensuring value for money across all services.
- IT: Oversee the school's IT infrastructure and services, working with internal or external IT support to ensure reliable and effective technology to support teaching, learning, and administration.
- Administration: Manage the school's administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective processes for areas such as school office operations, record-keeping, and general administrative support.
- Data Protection (GDPR): Act as the school's lead for Data Protection, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation, managing data security, and providing guidance to staff on data protection matters.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Proven experience in a school business management role or a similar management position with transferable skills.
- Demonstrable experience in managing health and safety, site maintenance, legal compliance, and policy development within an organisation.
- Experience of managing projects and external vendor contracts.
- Knowledge of Data Protection legislation (GDPR) and its implications for schools.
- Excellent organisational, administrative, and project management skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work strategically and operationally, and to problem-solve effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
