We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. Daily rates will be considered. In this role, you will ensure that our EHSQ policies and procedures are fully implemented across all operations. You’ll be part of a dynamic and experienced team dedicated to maintaining the highest health and safety standards, ensuring compliance and fostering a safe working environment at all times.

What You Would Do

  • Site Inspections: Lead regular, unannounced safety and quality inspections across multiple project sites, producing detailed digital reports for the Project Managers.
  • Risk Management: Review and critique Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS), ensuring they are specific to the task and understood by the workforce.
  • Incident Investigation: Manage and coordinate the investigation of any accidents, incidents, or near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Toolbox Talks: Identify, develop, and manage the delivery of site-based safety briefings and technical 'Toolbox Talks' to enhance worker awareness.
  • Environmental Oversight: Monitor site waste management plans, spill control measures, and carbon reduction initiatives in line with ISO 14001.
  • Quality Auditing: Conduct 'Benchmarking' inspections to ensure the standard of M&E installation meets both the design specification and the company’s quality benchmarks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Arrange and chair monthly site safety committee meetings, encouraging open dialogue between subcontractors and management.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Identify and manage the statutory testing and inspection registers for plant, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reporting: Provide high-level internal progress reports to the EHSQ Manager regarding trends, recurring issues, and regional performance.
  • Emergency Planning: Oversee and validate site emergency procedures, including fire evacuation drills and first aid provisions.
  • Lessons Learned: Capture and document safety and quality lessons learned to drive business-wide improvement and prevent reoccurrence of issues.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential).
  • IOSH membership (desirable).
  • Degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of third-party accreditations (ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and Safe T Cert).
  • Experience in the building services, construction, or engineering sector.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Driving license & vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel, this is requirement of the role.
