About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Crane / Plant Fitter to join our busy workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of cranes, lifting equipment and mobile plant machinery.This role will involve both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and operational. The position may be workshop-based, field-based, or a combination of both.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a skilled engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. Self-motivated, safety-focused and capable of diagnosing and repairing a wide range of crane and plant equipment and enjoy working both independently and as part of a professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on mobile cranes, lifting equipment and plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and rectify hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Complete LOLER inspections and assist with compliance requirements where applicable.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and service documentation.
  • Perform breakdown repairs and emergency call-outs when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to manufacturer standards.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, inspection reports and maintenance records.
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping and workshop safety.

Essential Requirements:

  • The right to live and work in the UK.
  • Proven experience as a Crane Fitter, Plant Fitter, Service Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work flexibility, independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience working with mobile cranes, crawler cranes, telehandlers, forklifts or heavy plant.
  • LOLER inspection qualification.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Electrical fault-finding experience.
  • CPCS, ALLMI or similar industry certifications.
  • HGV Licence.
