Not a composing, performing, mixing or sound design role. This is a client-facing role for an experienced advertising Music Supervisor whose core skill is sourcing, negotiating and clearing music - not making it. If your background is composition, session playing, mix/audio engineering or sound design without direct rights-clearance experience, this isn't the right fit and we won't be able to progress your application.
We're looking for a full-service music supervisor in our advertising team. Previous experience of clearing music from third party rights holders and unions for advertising is essential, alongside a keen interest in music across both well-known and micro-genres, both niche and popular. The candidate should be able to display previous experience sourcing and licensing music for client-facing briefs from treatment stage to airdate, ensuring communication and expectations are managed in a transparent and professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, research and secure appropriate music and artists for each project, including acquiring necessary licensing and legal permissions.
- Oversee the creation and management of project music budgets for the client, including licensing fees, composer fees, and studio costs.
- Stay up to date with current music trends and display a deep understanding of various genres, artists and styles.
- Build and maintain relationships in the advertising industry with agencies, creatives, and producers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry professionals, including artists, music publishers, record labels, and composers.
- Work closely with the production team and sound designers to ensure a full-service, company-wide and collaborative approach for the client.
Requirements:
- Clearing music from third party rights holders and unions for advertising is essential, with experience in bespoke composition and catalogue music a bonus.
- A self-starter who can work autonomously whilst also thriving as part of a team.
- Between 5-10 years experience working in both advertising and music.
- A strong drive to continue working in the advertising and branded content space.
- A strong desire to fully understand all areas of music supervision, both creative and licensing, with great attention to detail.
- A deep understanding of music rights holders, copyright, publishing, and master use licensing for sync.
- A deep understanding of the advertising industry, both agency and post-production, with interest in the changing landscape of advertising.
- Independently manage complex, client-facing projects with creativity, strategic thinking, and confidence.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects with professionalism.
- Experience managing and maintaining project budgets, schedule, and resources.
- Proficient in the use of digital audio workstations and music editing software.
