King Healthcare are currently assisting a leading Ophthalmic Private Clinic on Harley Street in their search for a Nursing Associate/Ophthalmic Technician. This is a really unique role where you will be hybrid between assisting with clinical duties and supporting the Ophthalmic Technician team with diagnostic testing.
The Role
- This position will be split into main areas including providing Clinical support as your Nursing Assistant duties and Diagnostic support in your Ophthalmic Technician duties.
- You’ll act as a runner in the Operating Room, assisting with stock preparation, patient transfers and theatre logistics.
- Support nurses with administrative duties including patient notes, ordering and maintaining clinical supplies.
- Prepare and chaperone patients for laser refractive and intraocular surgeries.
- Assist with post-operative checks and follow-up care appointments.
- Administer pre-approved eye drops and medication under supervision and in line with local protocols.
- Provide information to patients regarding post-op instructions (following approved scripts/checklists).
- Escalate any clinical queries or concerns appropriately to registered staff.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as OCT, visual fields, topography, tonometry, and fundus photography (full training provided).
- Ensure accurate data entry and imaging capture for clinician review.
- Prepare equipment and testing rooms before and after patient use.
- Support the flow of patients through the diagnostic process.
The Candidate
The ideal applicant for this role will have a minimum of 1 year experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or Clinical Support role within Ophthalmics. You will need to have an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) and previous experience within Ophthalmology or Diagnostic Testing would be a distinct advantage.
Salary and Benefits
The salary on offer for this position is between £26,000 – £28,000 dependent on experience. In addition are several benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private health cover, private pension scheme, employee discounts etc.
