Job Role: Bursaries and Charities Officer
Employment Type: Part-time, Term-time
This is an exceptional opportunity for a new Bursaries and Charities Officer to join a flourishing co-educational boarding and day school, set on a 100-acre campus in Witley, Surrey. Bursaries at Bridewell Schools are provided or administered by Bridewell Royal Hospital, the charitable foundation that operates King Edward’s Witley, Barrow Hills School and Longacre School. The provision of bursaries lies at the heart of Bridewell’s founding purpose. The endowment supports long-term funding through charities, livery companies and philanthropic trusts to enable access to education for pupils who would not otherwise have opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify and guide suitable Foundation candidates for bursaries.
- Administer bursary awards with rigour and compassion.
- Cultivate relationships with charities, livery companies and philanthropic trusts to secure long-term support.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in bursaries, charities administration or related field is preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with external funders and internal colleagues.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Part-time, term-time availability: 24 hours per week over 4 days, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings for Open Mornings, charity visits or exam days.
Hours and Benefits
- Hours: Part-time 24 hours per week (over 4 days) – Monday to Friday plus occasional Saturday mornings. 33 weeks per annum plus potential for holiday work.
- Benefits include free school lunches, free on-site parking, use of gym and pool facilities, and competitive rates of pay.
