King Edward’s School, Bath is seeking to appoint an inspiring and well-qualified Teacher of Spanish to join our successful Modern Languages Faculty on a fixed term basis. Spanish is a thriving and popular subject across the School, with strong uptake at GCSE and A Level, and excellent outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, well-resourced department and teach motivated, intellectually curious pupils. The successful candidate will teach Spanish across the full age and ability range, including A Level, and will contribute fully to the academic and pastoral life of the School. This role would suit either an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), for whom a full induction and support programme will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons that inspire, challenge and support pupils of all abilities.
  • Plan, prepare and assess work in line with departmental and school expectations.
  • Teach Spanish from Year 7 to A Level, preparing pupils for internal and external examinations.
  • Monitor pupil progress, maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to pupils and parents.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources within the department.
  • Support the pastoral life of the School, including acting as a form or co-tutor.
  • Engage in co-curricular activities and contribute to the wider life of the School.
  • Attend departmental meetings, Parents’ Evenings and key School events.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Strong subject knowledge in Spanish and familiarity with GCSE and A Level specifications.
  • Understanding of how pupils learn and develop across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Experience (or potential) to teach Spanish across KS3–KS5, including A Level.
  • Ability to assess pupil work effectively and use assessment to inform teaching.
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Organisational skills to effectively manage planning, marking and administrative duties.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
