King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy is seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Director of Inclusion - SENDCo to lead and develop inclusion and SEND provision across Key Stages 3-5. This is an extended Leadership Team role offering a rewarding opportunity for an outstanding practitioner to extend their impact whole school. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Leaders to shape inclusive practice, ensure statutory compliance, and improve outcomes for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
We are proud of our inclusive ethos and are looking for a leader who will champion high expectations, effective support and positive outcomes for all learners. The post is available for a September start though a January start will be considered for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified teacher with strong experience of SEND and inclusion in a secondary setting
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination or be willing to work towards it
- Have experience of leading or coordinating SEND provision
- Demonstrate the ability to influence whole-school inclusive practice
- Be highly organized with excellent communication skills
