Your role
A Cover Supervisor is an integral part of the school community. It is a challenging, busy and rewarding role. You will be part of a small team supporting our teaching staff by providing classroom cover and assistance. Your main task will be to take charge of classes and implement work set in the absence of a teacher. You will monitor students and report on progress during a period of short-term absence. Other duties may include examination supervision, assisting teachers generally within the classroom and administrative support. The role is a versatile role which allows you to work closely with our teaching and support staff and experience many different aspects of working within the education sector.
Your responsibilities
- To cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- To prioritise a good standard learning during lessons enabling continuity for students
- To ensure there is a good standard of behaviour within the classroom and around the school
- To report to and assist the Cover Manager with any other necessary tasks for the cover department.
You will need
- Enthusiasm and an interest in the world of education
- Good initiative, being able to improvise and utilise your strengths
- Great communications skills
- An interest in the academic development and wellbeing of young people
- Basic IT skills
- A flexible nature and helpful attitude.
