We are looking for a proactive and detail driven Quality Inspector to support inspection, verification and compliance activities across our client's manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in ensuring assemblies, pipework, mechanical systems and modular units meet required specifications, standards and customer expectations. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical inspection experience, excellent attention to detail and a passion for driving quality across all stages of production.
Responsibilities
- Health & Safety
- Promote a safety first culture and follow all HSE procedures.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions and near misses.
- Quality Control
- Perform in process and final inspections during assembly.
- Complete release checks and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Use Snag R to record defects and verify corrective actions.
- Support Safe to Despatch checks and produce inspection evidence.
- Inspection & Test Plans
- Execute inspection activities in line with ITPs, including witness and hold points.
- Validate hydrotest evidence, dimensional checks, visual inspections and functional tests.
- Record all inspection results using approved templates.
- Maintain full traceability of components and inspection records.
- Non Conformance & Corrective Action
- Identify defects and raise NCRs in line with QMS requirements.
- Verify repairs/rework meet acceptance criteria.
- Support engineers and QA teams with mechanical root cause investigations.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate inspection documentation and quality records.
- Support production of Quality Packs and ensure evidence completeness.
- Follow correct document control practices for drawings and revisions.
- Stakeholder Relations
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering and QA teams.
- Provide clear feedback on inspection findings to prevent recurrence.
- Promote quality awareness across all manufacturing operations.
- Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to CI initiatives and defect reduction activities.
- Provide input for Lessons Learned / LFE cycles.
Experience
- Essential
- Inspection experience within fabrication, modular construction, pipework installation, industrial build or similar.
- Strong understanding of tolerances and high quality standards.
- Desirable
- Experience with pressure testing, hydrotesting or mechanical test procedures.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment.
- Experience of offsite manufacturing.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical, mechanical engineering apprenticeship or similar.
- ISO 9001 Lead/Internal Auditor qualification (desirable).
- Membership of a recognised engineering or quality institution (desirable).
- Internal inspection competency training.
- Product or process specific mechanical assembly training.
