Our client, based in the East Cheshire area, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer. This is a permanent role paying £50,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on level of experience. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm, with potential flexibility to accommodate traffic. The position is commutable from Crewe, Middlewich, Holmes Chapel, Congleton, Macclesfield, Leek, Northwich, Knutsford, Biddulph, Newcastle‑under‑Lyme and North Stoke areas.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and review client specifications, drawings and analyse results gained from product tests to ensure proposals meet client requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and produce proposal documents to present to the client.
  • Work closely with clients and in‑house design/production staff to jointly manage client requirements.
  • Be responsible for all project documentation, site surveys and commissioning in the UK.
  • Conduct occasional site visits (approximately 3‑6 times a year) to discuss and update the client.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years working in mechanical engineering or a process engineering environment.
  • Conversant with food or chemical process equipment and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings produced on SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles and how equipment interacts.

Desirable

  • Contract management experience.
  • Commercial awareness.
