Purpose of the role – To support the project managers in delivering engineering projects to time, budget and specification while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction. The project engineer will coordinate resources, manage suppliers and oversee the project execution across planning, engineering, coordination and site activities.
Key Responsibilities –
- Project Delivery – Assist in initiating new projects and define resource needs. Support the development of project programmes and manage supply chain deliverables. Flag risks and issues to the project manager.
- Operations & Coordination – Understand job specifications and tender scope, proactively monitor project costs and budgets, and raise concerns as needed. Manage procurement and supplier selection in line with budget and quality standards. Liaise with the design team to ensure drawings meet specifications. Support the tracking and costing of job variations, ensuring client approval.
- Site Management – Ensure compliance with SHEQ regulations. Organise site surveys, subcontractors, plant and equipment. Attend client meetings and track all actions. Oversee site QA and ensure sign off of works and invoices.
- Cross functional coordination - Align client expectations within the project scope, communicate effectively with clients and internal teams. Plan resources and logistics to support efficient delivery. Compile and issue H&S documentation, identifying and resolving risks. Uphold quality standards and respond to senior management requests.
Skills & expertise - A proven track record in engineering project delivery, experience in industrial, Nuclear, Defence or Oil & Gas. Degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Knowledge of engineering standards. Ability to contribute to and influence engineering design decisions with a focus on deliverability, risk, and value.
