Why This Role Matters
Fulcrum is our internal technical delivery team, responsible for integrations, reporting, data migrations, infrastructure, and 3rd‑line technical delivery for our KxWelcome student housing management platform. Where our Projects team manages customer implementations end‑to‑end, Fulcrum provides the specialist technical capability that underpins those deliveries, connecting customer systems (SIS, finance, payments, conferencing) to our platform and ensuring the infrastructure runs smoothly. As we invest heavily in product‑market fit and platform modernisation across 2026, the Fulcrum team sits at the intersection of customer delivery and platform evolution. We need a Technical Delivery Lead who is a genuine all‑rounder: someone who can manage a small, distributed team while rolling up their sleeves on SQL, integrations, reporting, and infrastructure. This is a player‑manager role, you will lead the team and contribute directly to technical delivery. You will report to the COO and work in close alignment with the Head of Delivery, ensuring Fulcrum’s work is tightly connected to the broader delivery function and the PMF roadmap.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Technical Delivery
Hands‑on delivery of integrations, custom reports, data migrations, and infrastructure tasks. Own and manage SQL‑based integrations with third‑party systems (SIS, finance, payments, conferencing). Build, maintain, and troubleshoot reporting solutions for customers. Support infrastructure work including platform configuration, environment management, and deployment activities. Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues that require deep system knowledge. - Team Leadership
Lead and manage the Fulcrum team, a small distributed group covering integrations, reporting, and technical delivery. Allocate work across the team, balancing customer commitments with internal platform priorities. Provide technical mentorship and development support for team members. Manage workload across UK and Serbia‑based team members, coordinating across time zones. Own delivery timelines and commitments for Fulcrum workstreams. - Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work in close alignment with the Head of Delivery on project sequencing and resource planning. Collaborate with Engineering on platform changes, release impacts, and technical dependencies. Coordinate with Product on customer‑committed delivery items and roadmap dependencies. Liaise with CLOPs (Cloud Operations) on infrastructure, hosting, and environment management. Participate in the weekly NA Operating Review and monthly R&D Review. - Delivery Management
Plan and track Fulcrum delivery workstreams, ensuring visibility of progress and risks. Manage customer‑facing delivery commitments alongside the Projects team. Escalate blockers and capacity conflicts through the NA Operating Review. Ensure smooth handover between project implementation and BAU support. Manage team schedules, ensuring visibility of lead times and billability across all Fulcrum workstreams. - Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to standardise and automate repetitive integration and reporting tasks. Improve documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing across the Fulcrum function. Contribute to infrastructure modernisation efforts as the platform evolves. Leverage AI tools and approaches to accelerate automation, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort across delivery workflows.
Core Skills & Experience
Strong hands‑on SQL skills, comfortable writing complex queries, building integrations, and troubleshooting data issues. Experience with system integrations, APIs, data feeds, ETL processes, and third‑party connectors. Experience building or maintaining reporting solutions (custom reports, dashboards, data extracts). Solid understanding of infrastructure fundamentals, hosting, environments, deployments, and configuration management. Proven experience as a player‑manager or technical team lead, balancing hands‑on delivery with people management. Experience managing small, distributed teams across multiple time zones. Strong problem‑solving skills, able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues under pressure. Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical complexity into clear updates for stakeholders. An AI‑first mindset, actively seeking opportunities to apply AI to improve delivery processes, automation, and team productivity.
Nice to Have
Experience in Higher Education, housing, property management, or similar B2B SaaS sectors. Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with payment integrations, finance systems, or student information systems (SIS). Experience working in delivery or professional services teams within a software company. Understanding of agile delivery practices and project management fundamentals. Experience with Jira or similar delivery tracking tools.
Ideal Candidate
An all‑rounder – equally comfortable in SQL, managing people, and talking to customers. Hands‑on – you lead from the front and aren’t afraid to get into the detail. Organised – you keep delivery on track across multiple workstreams and time zones. Collaborative – you work naturally across Delivery, Engineering, and Product. Pragmatic – you find practical solutions and don’t over‑engineer. Communicative – you keep stakeholders informed and escape early when things go off track.
