My client is looking for a skilled and proactive multi-skilled maintenance technician to join an expanding manufacturing operations team in Sunderland. This is an electrically biased, multi-skilled maintenance role supporting production equipment, factory services, and continuous improvement activities across site. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting production performance through planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement initiatives. Hours of work
- Monday to Thursday 08:00 until 16:30
- Friday 08:00 until 13:00
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to schedule
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production equipment
- Maintain plant, machinery, factory services, and utilities safely and efficiently
- Support breakdown response activities to minimise downtime
- Ensure maintenance documentation and records are completed accurately
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency
- Support equipment modifications, upgrades, and installation projects
Systems & Communication
- Use SAP PM / maintenance management systems to manage work orders and reporting
- Communicate effectively with production and engineering teams
- Prioritise maintenance activities to support operational requirements
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all site Health & Safety procedures including LOTO and Permit to Work systems
- Ensure RAMS and contractor controls are adhered to
- Maintain high housekeeping and engineering standards across site
Team Support & Development
- Support and mentor apprentices where required
- Share technical knowledge and best practice within the maintenance team
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering
- BS7671 qualification
- Previous manufacturing maintenance experience
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Desirable Skills
- PLC diagnostics experience (Allen Bradley preferred)
- CNC machine tool experience
- C&G 2391 or 2394/2395
- Experience using SAP PM or CMMS systems
