Kinetic are currently seeking experienced Sheet Metal Workers to support critical shipbuilding and maintenance projects for the Royal Navy at Portsmouth Naval Base.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a skilled workforce delivering high-quality metalwork on complex naval platforms in a secure, well-equipped shipyard environment.
Pay: £35,866 + 33% shift allowance if applicable
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow written and verbal instructions with a strong attention to detail
- Burn, chamfer, bend, and form various gauges and types of sheet metal (aluminium, stainless steel, etc.)
- Operate machinery including guillotines, rollers, folders (including CNC), and drilling machines
- Accurately mark out sheet plate and extrusions using appropriate measuring tools
- Perform tack welding (training/qualifications can be provided)
- Use grinders and consumables safely in accordance with HAVS regulations
- Apply strong-backs and fairing aids to minimise distortion during fabrication
- Support Quality Control inspections and maintain high workmanship standards
- Work flexibly with potential travel outside of the main site when required
Skills & Experience:
- Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication and hand tools
- Experience working with various materials including steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical guidance
- Previous marine, defence, or heavy industrial experience is advantageous
