My client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join the Service & Solutions team. This role involves carrying out maintenance, repair, and commissioning of industrial pumping equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of systems across a wide range of industries including water utilities, manufacturing, and commercial facilities. This is an ongoing temporary position that may lead to a permanent contract.

  • Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:30; Friday 08:00 - 13:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair industrial pumps and associated equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults on-site
  • Strip, inspect and rebuild rotating equipment including pumps, motors and seals
  • Install and commission new systems and upgrades
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately
  • Always ensure compliance with health & safety procedures
  • Provide technical advice and support

About You

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Maintenance Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, motors, bearings, seals)
  • Ability to fault-find and problem-solve under pressure
  • Experience working in industrial or field-based environments
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills
  • Desirable: experience with pump systems or water-related industries
  • Desirable: basic electrical knowledge (motors, drives, controls)
  • Desirable: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Desirable: apprenticeship-trained
