We're currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join an established and growing engineering business in Durham.The role will involve working on a varied range of equipment, from large multi-stage, high-pressure units through to smaller industrial pumps.The successful candidate will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair and re-assembly of various rotating equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Up to Β£43,000 per annumMonday to Thursday08:00 until 16:30Friday07:30 until 13:30Company Pension SchemeOvertime rates applicable23 days holidays per year plus Bank Holidays
Responsibilities -
- * Disassemble, inspect and repair pumps and other rotating equipment
- * Re-assemble equipment to the required standards and specifications
- * Complete work within agreed deadlines and to a high standard
- * Assist with the preparation of technical reports in line with company and customer requirements
- * Work in accordance with relevant industry standards and company procedures
- * Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals
- * Identify equipment issues and assist with effective problem solving
- * Prioritise workloads to ensure agreed deadlines are achieved
- * Work as part of a small, skilled engineering team
- * Maintain a strong understanding of pumps and rotating equipment
- * Work flexibly and undertake overtime when required
The Ideal Candidate -
- * Time-served Fitter/Engineer
- * Proven experience working with pumps and rotating equipment
- * Strong mechanical engineering background
- * Experience within a service, repair or workshop environment
- * Ability to accurately read technical drawings, schematics and manuals
- * Excellent problem-solving skills
- * Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- * Flexible approach to tasks and working hours
- * Reliable, conscientious and committed to delivering high-quality work
