This Multi‑Skilled Mechanical Fitter role is ideal for someone who takes real pride in precision engineering, enjoys varied mechanical assembly work, and is confident carrying out basic electrical tasks during machine build.

You’ll be part of a small, fast‑paced engineering team producing high‑quality machinery where accuracy, fit, finish, and attention to detail are absolutely essential.

The role is predominantly mechanical, but you’ll also support basic electrical wiring and testing as part of the build process.

We are looking for someone with significant, proven experience in mechanical fitting and machine build.

  • Multi‑Skilled Mechanical Fitter Role
  • Mechanical assembly of machinery to a high standard
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and navigating electrical schematics
  • Running wires during machine build and carrying out basic electrical tasks
  • Wiring motors, using a volt meter to check power presence, and verifying PLC inputs/outputs
  • Checking operation of solenoid valves, sensors, cylinders, slides, and pressure regulators
  • Small‑bore pipe fitting and general machine build duties
  • Using hand tools, power tools, pillar drills, bandsaws, grinders, etc.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues
  • Working as part of a supportive, close‑knit team
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of quality and workmanship
  • Multi‑Skilled Mechanical Fitter Requirements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on fitting/assembly experience
  • Experience of electrics (motor wiring, volt meter use, simple testing)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, mechanical and electrical schematics, and technical documentation
  • Good understanding of pneumatics including cylinders, slides, solenoid valves and pressure regulators.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment such as pillar drills, bandsaws, grinders etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high‑quality work
  • Positive attitude, good time management, and a team‑focused approach
  • Experience with conventional machining or CNC is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
  • High level of attention to detail, as the fit and finish of the parts/final assembly is critical.
  • Preferably a minimum of 8 years' experience
