Kinetic Recruitment are currently resourcing for a permanent Machine Shop Supervisor for a heavy engineering company based in Gateshead. As Machine Shop Supervisor you will report in to the Machine Shop Manager, you will work a 4-shift pattern to ensure production targets are met and carried out in a timely and controlled manner with a high regard to health and safety, production quality and the production schedule. Duties: Carry out risk assessments and complete standard operating procedures. Supervisor manpower, manage and motivate team of operators. Measurement and assessment of cycle time achievement. Producing reports for Senior Management. Project improvement work. Carry out employee appraisals, reviews, disciplinary, grievance and absence management cases. Monitor performance of team, coach and support where performance is not at required standard. To assist in recruitment of team members, identify manpower requirement and assist in redeployment where resource is required. Identify training needs and organise the delivery of on the job skills and safety training. To complete shift paperwork. To assist with production as necessary. Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers. Carry out any reasonable request that is within your skill set and experience. Responsible for all aspects of health and safety for all activities inclusive of housekeeping and safety inspections, with adherence to all company policy and guidelines. Skills and Qualifications: Educated to NVQ Level 4 or similar. One to three years of related technical experience. Three to five years production supervisory experience. Excellent team work and communication skills. Strong health and safety awareness is required. Have drive and enthusiasm and have a flexible and positive approach to team working and factory improvement initiatives. Have the ability to use initiative and judgement to make decisions and solve problems which at times can be complex. Be able to work mainly unsupervised and manage own time effectively. Have the ability to apply knowledge of machine shop procedures, machine tool set up and operating techniques. CAD/CAM experience preferred but not essential.
