Cable Manufacturing Operative

Location: Blackley, England, North West

Job Type: Temporary (rotating shift 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 weekly)

Salary: £12.71 per hour, with significant pay increase after 12 weeks

About the role: Kinetic Manchester is recruiting a Cable Manufacturing Operative for a well‑established manufacturing business operating for over 120 years and recognised as a world‑class manufacturer. You will support the production of essential cable products that support critical infrastructure across the UK. A DBS check will be completed prior to starting.

Responsibilities

  • Keep production lines running efficiently throughout the shift.
  • Make minor machine adjustments to support smooth operation.
  • Ensure product quality standards are consistently met.
  • Identify and report any manufacturing compliance issues.
  • Operate production machinery in line with SOPs and process specifications.
  • Complete production records including output, downtime and scrap.
  • Carry out 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Support basic fault finding using data collection and SPC charts.
  • Assist with line set‑up and start‑up in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Complete required safety checks.
  • Test finished reels/drums against inspection schedules and record results.
  • Update waste and scrap documentation and ensure correct disposal.
