Kinetic Manchester is working with a leading supplier in Blackley to recruit a Part Time Cable Winding / General Operative. As the Winding Operative / Manufacturing Operative, you'll play a key role in keeping production running smoothly while supporting safety, quality and environmental performance. The part time operative will be responsible for supporting the sales production process in line with training, customer specifications, operational procedures and Health & Safety policy.
Key duties include:
- Receiving and understanding cutting orders from the production office
- Handling drums and reels, ensuring materials match cutting instructions
- Cutting cable orders, selecting suitable packaging and operating machinery correctly
- Completing orders accurately using scanners or manual updates
- Using and maintaining appropriate PPE, reporting any defects
- Reporting accidents, incidents, problems or near misses
- Maintaining high levels of quality, inspecting work throughout the shift
- Identifying and managing non conforming products and recording scrap or returns
- Keeping the work area tidy and ensuring strong housekeeping standards
- Regularly checking tools and equipment, storing items safely and reporting issues
- Taking actions to avoid environmental damage, including correct waste segregation and spill control
- Carrying out any other tasks as directed by the shift team leader or manager
We need the General Operative to have:
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
- Hard working, self motivated and reliable
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Awareness of safety requirements in a busy yard or industrial environment
- Experience or understanding of production and quality processes
- Problem solving abilities
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in manufacturing
