Omnicom Media UK is seeking a strategic Head of Performance Planning & Optimisation to lead the standardisation and governance of performance planning across digital media campaigns within the Omnicom agency group. This role will lead the team's ability to deliver client outcomes through meticulous cross-craft planning, clear learning agendas, and rigorous measurement methodologies that quantify impact. They will partner with activation and craft teams to ensure plans are delivered to standard, with performance driven through in-flight optimisation and testing. Ensuring digital media planning is applied with rigor and consistency to deliver business outcomes at scale.

The Performance Planning team translates complex, BigQuery-level data into clear, waterfall media plans that drive measurable impact across the full digital ecosystem, spanning:

  • Experience: SEO, GEO, LLMs, CRO/UX, Demand Gen/Content Syndication, eCRM/Marketing Automation
  • Paid Media: Search, Social, Programmatic, eCommerce, Affiliates
  • Content: Onsite content, organic social content, Creator content, DCO, Digital PR, Design & Build

Reporting to the Head of Paid Media, this role sits at the intersection of comms planning and delivery. Turning performance planning frameworks into day-to-day media activation across the group. The Head of Performance Planning & Optimisation position is a matrix leadership role. They will have direct line management of Performance Planning teams aligned to Hearts, UM, Initiative and Kinesso Direct, while operating as the standard-setter and connective force across Performance Planning leads at OMD, PHD, and MGOMD. Driving alignment through shared frameworks, governance forums, and structured test-and-learn agendas. Embedding consistent standards and elevate planning maturity across agencies. Working in close partnership with the Head of Performance, this role will bring the Performance Planning community together to establish frameworks and best practices that ensure consistency across markets and platforms, elevating campaign delivery and performance across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Planning, Data & Analytics, and Media Capability teams to develop holistic marketing solutions; partner with Channel Leads to ensure in-channel plans drive business growth. Champion field requirements to the Omni Product team, ensuring planning, activation, and audience console capabilities evolve in line with business needs. Partner with the Head of Performance to embed best-practice Omni usage and case studies, applying these standards consistently across day-to-day planning and delivery.
  • Standardisation & Planning Frameworks: Drive data-led performance marketing innovation, applying analytics, AI, and automation to sharpen campaign optimisation, audience segmentation, and predictive modelling at scale. Establish clear, repeatable frameworks for omnichannel digital media planning and budget allocation, directly aligned to clients' business goals. Lead structured test-and-learn agendas and governance processes that embed planning consistency across markets and platforms.
  • Media Plan Quality: Collaborate with Channel Leads to establish and maintain best-practice waterfall performance planning across Paid Media, identifying in-platform KPIs to benchmark plans against. Partner with Addressable Digital Media Leads to audit and elevate the quality of in-channel planning output. Establish structured knowledge-sharing forums across Omni agencies to embed best practice and drive consistent, high-maturity performance planning. Direct the use of performance data, audience signals, and real-time insights to optimise media budgets across omnichannel campaigns.
  • Data & Measurement Infrastructure: Lead development of a digital maturity framework, embedding measurement solutions (e.g. conversion lift, geo lift) to scale client performance outcomes. Ensure client data infrastructure is optimally integrated into Performance Plans; define clear pathways to advance clients' data, tech, and analytics maturity via Omni. Design 1PD and 3PD signal identification strategies to simplify fragmented, duplicated customer journeys across Paid Media channels, reducing wasted spend and improving cross-channel attribution across Unified Search and Unified Video.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant senior leadership experience in performance marketing or digital media within the UK market.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, innovative performance strategies and campaigns for major clients.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience driving revenue growth and integrating performance into broader media solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-disciplinary collaboration and act as a connector across matrixed teams, influencing without direct authority.
  • Experience managing commercial products or solutions, with responsibility for revenue targets.
  • Deep understanding of digital media trends, technologies, and the evolving landscape (including emerging platforms).
  • Working knowledge of data and measurement infrastructure (e.g. Big Query, attribution/MMM tools, audience/data platforms) sufficient to direct, though not necessarily to build technical solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills at executive and client level.
  • Passion for digital transformation and empowering teams to embrace new ways of working.
