Make a real difference before placements reach crisis. We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established Independent Fostering Agency looking to appoint an experienced Psychotherapist to join their growing therapeutic team. This isn't a traditional therapy role. You'll work closely with foster carers, social workers and children to provide early intervention, therapeutic support and practical guidance that helps keep families together and prevents placement breakdown. If you're passionate about supporting children in care while also empowering the adults around them, this could be an incredibly rewarding next step.
The Role
- You'll provide therapeutic support across the fostering service through a combination of:
- Therapeutic assessments and interventions
- Supporting foster carers and staff with complex presentations
- Delivering therapeutic parenting and pre-approval training
- Attending planning and review meetings
- Producing high-quality therapeutic reports
- Providing consultation during periods of increased risk
- Working collaboratively with the wider therapeutic and social work teams
The role is hybrid, however face-to-face work remains central. You'll regularly meet children, carers and colleagues both in the office and within the community. There may also be occasional support required outside normal office hours, with TOIL provided.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Psychotherapist (Diploma level or above)
- Registration with a recognised professional body (BACP, UKCP, BPS or equivalent)
- Experience working with children, young people and families
- Confidence delivering training to foster carers and professionals
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Flexibility to respond to occasional urgent support requests
What's on Offer
- Salary between £33,000 - £51,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working
- Opportunity to influence practice across an established fostering service
- Clinical supervision and ongoing CPD
- Supportive multidisciplinary therapeutic team
- A varied role where no two days are the same
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and foster families every day.
