Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Carpenter / Multiskilled Construction role based in East Devon. The role involves performing structural and finish carpentry, including timber framing, installation of doors, windows, and interior finishes. Daily tasks include using hand and power tools safely, reading and interpreting plans, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling components to specification. The Carpenter will assist with site preparation, material handling, and maintaining a clean, organized work area, while supporting sustainable construction practices and quality standards. Collaboration with other team members, clear communication with supervisors, and adherence to health and safety procedures are essential to success in this position.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational skills in carpentry, including structural work and general building tasks.
- Experience with framing techniques, particularly timber frame construction and related structural assemblies.
- Proficiency in safe and effective use of hand tools for measuring, cutting, joining, and finishing materials.
- Ability to operate power tools confidently and safely, including saws, drills, and other construction equipment.
- Competence in finish carpentry, including detailed trim work, fitting doors and windows, and interior detailing.
- Understanding of construction drawings, measurements, and basic layout methods.
- Commitment to high-quality workmanship, attention to detail, and sustainable building practices.
- Ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions, lift and handle materials, and follow safety protocols.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to take direction and work independently when required.
- Previous experience in residential construction preferred; relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships are an asset.
