The Impact You Will Make We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to support the development and delivery of effective EHS programs across the organisation. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and reducing operational risk. The EHS Specialist will conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, provide training and guidance to colleagues, and work closely with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Driving continuous improvement to reduce risks on site.
- Maintain SOP’s, document templates related to risk management, including general and equipment risk assessment.
- Manage the site risk assessment system.
- Ensuring that any actions arising from assessments are suitably tracked.
- Support external BSI audits to maintain compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Support any other external EHS audit for the site, e.g., HSE.
- Close gaps on audits by implementing processes, controls, or projects, and support the closure of audit findings.
- Work with Emergency Response Team Leader to arrange annual planned evacuations of all areas to assess adequacy of program, review and audit emergency preparedness.
- Monitor legal changes through external portal and ensure these are rolled out where required.
- Carry out audits and inspections to ensure site meets compliance requirements.
- Investigation and implement improvements.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to key EHS Management Standards.
- Assist with departmental Integrated Audits and support site legislative audits.
- Review and update training materials, where necessary deliver training to key departments.
- Support projects which will enable the site to meet its water, energy and waste goals.
Skills & Experience:
- NEBOSH Diploma and/or General Certificate or similar Safety qualification essential or working towards.
- Experience of working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Experience of delivering EHS training.
- Environmental awareness qualification or willingness to be trained.
- IOSH membership preferred but not essential with relevant experience and demonstrable CPD for the relevant grade.
- Engineering skills/qualifications are an advantage.
- Experience of Lower-tier COMAH.
- Experience working with Process safety.
