Summary of Position

• The person hired for the position of Environmental, Health and Safety (“EHS”) Manager will be the lead for environmental, health and safety compliance and EHS risk reduction for the Kindeva UK operations, leading a team of EHS professionals.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and motivate the UK EHS team.
• Maintain current working knowledge of UK EHS standards and regulations, providing expert EHS advice and support to operational teams. Identify and liaise with key operational EHS stakeholders.
• Understand, maintain, and update compliance records to demonstrate full compliance to all UK environmental, health and safety legislation/regulations that are applicable to the Kindeva UK sites.
• Manage key communication with UK regulatory enforcing agencies.
• Promote and embed a positive EHS culture.
• Ensure the management of key EHS accreditations across the UK, including the effective management of ISO14001 and ISO45001 certifications.
• Ensure that all significant risks to health and safety are identified and assessed and that appropriate risk control measures are implemented and maintained.
• Lead the development and implementation of the EHS short-term and long-term strategic planning for all UK operations.
• Lead investigations and recommend actions to address safety, regulatory, and licensing considerations for future business activities.
• Ensure that accident and incident investigations are timely and effective, remedial actions are completed, and lessons learned and shared across the business.
• Liaise with HR team in the effective use of Occupational Health resources.

Minimum Requirements

• Deep knowledge of UK EHS legislation and EHS risk management systems.
• Experience leading EHS in a manufacturing and laboratory environment with strong experience in driving a safety culture.
• Track record of developing, motivating and sustaining a team of EHS professionals.
• Ability to collate and analyse data to make effective improvements.
• Ability to effectively manage EHS priorities with tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver results.
• Effective influencing skills with the ability to clearly communicate objectives.
• Effective communicator in written and oral formats both within the organisation and with external regulatory agencies.
• Good interpersonal, communication, prioritisations and organisational skills.

Skills & Preferred Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, or EHS from an accredited university.
• Ten years’ EHS experience in manufacturing and/or R&D environment, preferably in pharmaceutical operations.
• Three years leading an EHS team in a manufacturing and laboratory environment.
• NEBOSH diploma.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) a plus.
• Experience with Control of Major Accident Hazards (“COMAH”) regulations and compliance.
• Experience in interacting with regulatory authorities (e.g., HSE and EA) and related audits.
• Experience in process safety.
