Job Description

1 week on / 1 week off (24/7) Start: Mid August 2026 Long-term role with a warm, loyal family. Kinder Nannies & Staff is delighted to support one of our long-standing, genuinely lovely families in Notting Hill. They currently employ two of our rota nannies, and all are extremely happy. They are now seeking to replace one of the nannies who has to leave due to a change in personal circumstances. They are therefore looking for a new special rota nanny to join their household team for a long-term partnership.

About the Family

This is a warm, grounded, and welcoming household with two delightful school-aged daughters. The girls are kind, bright, outdoorsy, and thrive with a nanny who is loving, calm, and fully engaged in their world. The family also has a cat and two friendly dogs, so a genuine pet lover is essential. Mum works full-time and is wonderfully open, kind, and easy to collaborate with. The role involves a natural blend of sole and shared care, and the nanny will be a trusted part of the parenting team.

The Role

  • Rota: 1 week on / 1 week off, 24/7
  • Travel: The family travels during school holidays (Christmas, Easter, summer). Nanny is generally not required, so you will have additional time off.
  • Driving: Confident driver required for school runs, activities, and playdates.
  • Location: Notting Hill – nanny must live within a short commute for off-weeks.

During school hours, the nanny will support the smooth running of the household, including:

  • Dog walking
  • Tidying and maintaining children’s areas
  • Preparing nutritious meals for the girls
  • Ensuring uniforms, school bags, and weekly logistics are always ready

The family employs a housekeeper and cleaner, so heavy housework is not required. But a genuine muck-in where needed attitude is essential. This rota position is 24/7 on a 1 week rota schedule. Live In when on rota and live out when off rota. But nanny should live within a short commute of London. Mum works full time and sometimes travels for work, there will be a mixture of sole and shared care and occasional proxy parenting. Over school holidays Christmas, Easter and summer the family is often away. They would like their nanny to join them some of the time. At these times the rota period might change temporarily, to allow for a longer period of time away (2 weeks or so).

What the Family Is Looking For

  • Warm, kind, emotionally attuned nanny who genuinely loves working with children
  • Fun but firm, and patience can be required on occasion with the little one.
  • Resilience, not every day runs smoothly with the children.
  • Fluent English, able to support homework as it becomes more advanced
  • Proactive, organised, anticipatory thinker who always has Plans B and C ready
  • Team-player mindset, comfortable working alongside Mum
  • Outdoorsy and energetic, happy to embrace the girls’ active lifestyle
  • Flexible, down-to-earth attitude and genuine willingness to muck in, with mum or other staff.
  • Strong role model, able to set gentle but clear boundaries
  • Pet friendly – the family’s animals are part of daily life
  • Long-term commitment – they hope their nanny will stay for years

Why This Role Is Special

This is a genuinely happy, stable, and appreciative household. They value their staff, treat them with kindness, and want their nanny to feel at home and part of the family team. Mum is supportive of the nanny having personal time during school hours (gym, walk, meeting a friend). If mum is around in the evening, she is often happy for nanny to go out and meet friends. Mum works and this role is a mix of sole care and shared care. You need to be ok with mum being around. Mum is really lovely, easy to chat to, open-minded and very kind.

They are looking for a flexibly minded, down to earth nanny who is happy to muck in. Someone with the right attitude, putting the family and in particular girls first is essential. The children are very outdoorsy, so a nanny who is genuinely outdoorsy too would be important for them. They are allowed limited screen time at the weekends, and sugar is not forbidden. A balance is important.

The family is ready to interview and trial immediately. You are more likely to be selected for interview if you have previously worked a rota position and worked with children of these ages and you are yourself an outdoorsy, active person with a sunny personality - you would fit in well.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate longevity in your recent roles (working for min 2 or 3 years for a family)
  • Must have previous experience of travelling with your nanny family.
  • Must be ok with family's 2 dogs (1 medium-large, other small) and cat
  • Experience with children aged 6-9 years
  • Previous rota experience and/or live-in experience is greatly preferred but not essential
  • Had considerable experience in sole charge of 2 young children and also with shared care.
  • Proxy parenting experience very useful.
  • Living within short commute of London
  • Up to date Enhanced DBS and be on the DBS update service.
  • Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate (within 3 years)
  • Right to work in UK
  • Full passport for international travel
  • Good references for recent and relevant nanny work and jobs that have each lasted a good length of time.
  • Able to run after young children
  • Be available long term
  • Must be tidy and clean and happy to keep home environment tidy and clean
  • Must be happy to muck in and do household related jobs and errands while children at school (mum is ok for you to also go to the gym or go for a walk once other tasks are completed)

Please note this is a strictly Non-smoking position.

Ideal Candidate

  • Kind, nurturing, empathic nanny, firm on boundaries.
  • Happy with sole and shared care when mum is home.
  • Cheerful with positive attitude as this is a very happy loving home.
  • Plenty of initiative.
  • Flexible, willing and muck in attitude.
  • English speaker who can help children with their homework.
  • Confident driver - car provided.
  • Must love animals as the family has 2 adorable dogs, a cat and a rabbit.
