Job Description:
We are looking for a completely fluent, French speaking governess. Someone who will really focus on the development of the girls (aged 6 and 10), encourage reading, have stimulating conversations, help with homework, music practice, but also be able to take them out and have some fun. The role will involve coming earlier to do some light organisation and pre-cook an evening meal for the girls before pick up. This is a full-time role but we are happy to offer reduced hours during term time (say 2pm-7pm) and then 8 hour days during holidays. It can be 4 days a week or 5 (salary of up to £65k is based on 5 days per week). We are looking for someone who is educated and used to working with children in competitive schools but can balance that with being warm, kind and building a bond. This family has no pets and does not require a driver, but the school is a 20 minute walk away.
Requirements:
- Live within reasonable commute of Herne Hill (the family is close to Herne Hill station)
- 5+ years experience
- Educated, preferably to degree level
- Experience working with school aged children
- Experience of tutoring or supporting children with their education
- Up to date Enhanced DBS
- Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate
- Right to work in the UK
- Good references for recent and relevant jobs
- Proof of previous long term positions (ideally 2+ years in each job)
- Be available long term
