A rota position has opened up with one of our wonderful London families. They are a kind, warm international family looking for an experienced, responsible and fun completely fluent German, French or Spanish speaking nanny to look after their 2 young children in North Notting Hill / North Kensington.
The position is 2 weeks on/off. Live in or live out (the other rota nanny lives out - in London). When in London (most of the time) the hours are 7am til 7pm. If you live out you must live within a reasonable commute of their home in North Kensington. When travelling, the hours are 24/14.
Start date is Jan/Feb, but the family can be flexible for the right nanny. This is a rota position, where you will work a 12 hour day for 14 days on (then 14 days off) in London. However, the salary covers 24/14, so on occasion when the family is away, or the parents are away for an evening, you would be expected to stay over and be available for the full 24 hrs. Each shift of 14 days, 12 hours per day, is demanding, therefore they need a nanny who lives close-by for the commute, or who lives in when on rota.
Their children are 4.5y, nearly 3y and they expect a baby to join the family this year. The nearly 3y old will attend nursery this year and the eldest is at school. The new baby will initially have a maternity nurse.
Their current nanny (through Kinder Nannies) is super lovely and has been working for them for 2 years and their full-time housekeeper has been working for them for many years. Their hope is the new rota nanny will also stay with them for years.
We are looking for a professional nanny with lots of energy, initiative and warmth. Someone who will arrange plenty of fun activities and excursions, including a social life for both children with playdates. Both parents work, mum works partly from home. She will want to be able to see the children at lunch time or at a tea break during the day, so nanny should be comfortable with this.
This young family enjoy a positive, friendly and open environment at home. Mum explains that she likes good communication and for everyone to know what they are doing. Things work well for them and for the children when the structure and routine is followed. The parents believe this gives security to the children and makes for happier children (and everyone else in the home!).
The family keep a very clean and tidy house and it is important to the family that the nanny also likes it this way. They are looking for a nanny who will be a long-term part of their household/family. They look after their staff and believe in give and take and giving each other flexibility when required, e.g. if the nanny wants to take extra holiday.
The family travel overseas during holidays, to stay with their family’s homes abroad. They spend summer at the beach house in New York (The Hamptons) and they spend time in southern France and Bavaria in Germany too. When they are abroad the rota schedule might be 3w on/off. They don't expect their rota nanny to stay with them longer than that at any time. They will fly you home and the other nanny will be flown out to them.
The family lives in a large newly renovated house and employ other full-time staff, including a full-time housekeeper. Nanny should be experienced enough to be comfortable with shared care, sole care and proxy-parenting.
This family does not have any pets, but there is a very friendly dog at the grandparent’s beach house in New York. It would be helpful if nanny could drive, as this could be helpful for the job but also for the nanny themselves when abroad, but driving is not needed in London. This is a warm, kind, formal household. Please note, the family is high profile and discretion is important.
The salary is £70,000 gpa, but there is always a very significant bonus and other payments throughout the year.
Requirements:
- Completely fluent German, Spanish or French speaking nanny
- Baby experience (family expects baby #3 this year - they will have a maternity nurse)
- Previous rota experience is strongly preferred
- Had considerable experience of sole charge experience of more than 1 young child
- Living within short commute of London or in London (you can live in or live out when on rota)
- Up to date Enhanced DBS (we can help you apply)
- Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate
- Right to work in UK
- Good references for recent and relevant nanny work and jobs that have each lasted a good length of time.
- Able to run after young children
- Be available long term
- Must be tidy and clean and happy to keep home environment tidy and clean
Please note this is a strictly non-smoking position.
Ideal Candidate:
- Fluent German, French or Spanish speaking nanny, reliable, energetic, pro-active, enjoys travelling, fun, lives in UK.
- Someone who is naturally clean, tidy and organised and is a confident communicator.
- Perfect nanny is very maternal, responsible, caring. This is a cheerful happy home looking for a nanny with a positive outlook to join the household.
