At Kinbrook, we’re looking for a Management Accountant with a proven track record of providing financial information and analysis to support strategic decision‑making within the entities on which they work. This role involves the preparation of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to ensure effective financial management and control. The Management Accountant will work closely with various departments to ensure that financial data is accurate, timely, and supports the company’s overall financial health and goals. This role works closely with the Accounts team to prepare accurate financial statements and implement strong financial controls across the Group’s offices in London and the East Midlands. Some travel between locations will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and providing insightful commentary.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and decision‑making processes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budgetary performance and update forecasts as required, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Work with department heads to understand budget requirements and provide support in managing budgetary constraints.
- Analyse costs and profitability, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Monitor overhead costs, variances, and trends, providing recommendations for cost control.
- Support pricing strategies by analysing cost structures and profitability margins.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business strategy and decision‑making.
- Participate in strategic projects, providing financial expertise and support.
- Conduct scenario analysis and financial modelling to assess the financial impact of business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Support internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure effective internal controls are in place.
- Act as a key point of contact for financial matters across the group.
- Present financial information to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Heads of Service, Operations, and the People team, to support financial planning and decision‑making.
About You
We’re looking for a proven project manager, with extensive experience managing a combination of IT and business transformation projects. To succeed, you will bring:
- Education: A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA) is highly desirable or QBE.
- Experience: 1‑3 years of experience in a management accounting or similar role.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and build effective working relationships.
