We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Pet Care Vets in Erith. For more than 40 years, we've been a friendly, community-focused practice where relationships matter and every team member plays an important role in delivering personalised care. You'll be joining a welcoming environment where collaboration, continuity and excellent patient care are at the heart of everything we do.

As part of Kin Vet Community, a small collective of like-minded community veterinary practices, we benefit from the support, shared expertise and collaborative approach that comes from working alongside teams who share our commitment to exceptional veterinary care. Whilst every practice retains its own culture, leadership and way of working, being part of Kin Vet creates greater opportunities to learn from one another, invest in our people and facilities, and continue evolving the services we provide to pets and their owners.

A flexible fixed-term opportunity with a supportive team. We're looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join us on a 3-month fixed‑term contract, covering a valued member of our team whilst they take time away for surgery. This role offers flexibility, with the option to work either four days (40 hours) or three days per week for the right candidate. Whether you're between permanent roles, relocating, returning to practice, or simply looking for a short-term opportunity with an excellent work‑life balance, we'd love to hear from you.

You’ll work alongside an experienced and approachable Clinical Director who enjoys supporting colleagues, making this an ideal opportunity for a vet with a solid grounding in general practice who is confident managing routine consultations and surgery whilst continuing to develop clinically.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll enjoy a varied first‑opinion caseload, combining consultations, diagnostics, routine surgery and inpatient care.
  • We pride ourselves on providing continuity for our clients and patients, giving you the opportunity to build trusted relationships whilst delivering high‑quality clinical care.

Working Pattern:

  • 4 days per week (40 hours) or 3 days per week for the right candidate
  • Four 10‑hour shifts
  • Typical start times of 8:30am, 8:45am or 9:30am
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm)
  • No out‑of‑hours

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative team and is committed to providing exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Previous experience in small animal general practice.
  • Confidence with routine consultations and surgery.
  • The ability to work independently whilst knowing when to seek support.
  • A caring, personable approach with excellent communication skills.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.

Why join Pet Care Vets?

At Pet Care Vets, you’ll become part of a close‑knit team where everyone knows each other, supports one another and genuinely enjoys coming to work. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built with our local community over the last 40 years and are committed to creating an environment where both our people and our patients thrive.

Backed by the wider Kin Vet Community, you’ll have the reassurance of additional clinical support, shared expertise and opportunities to learn, whilst enjoying the culture and feel of a genuinely independent community practice.

Ready to find out more?

If you’re looking for a flexible fixed‑term opportunity within a friendly, supportive team where you’ll be valued from day one, we’d love to hear from you. For more information or an informal, confidential chat about the role, please contact Louise at Louise.chandler@kinvet.co.uk.
