Medical Secretary – Primary Care (Private GP Service)

KIMS Hospital, the largest independent hospital in Kent, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator or Secretary to join our team supporting the Private GP Service.
This is a fantastic development role for someone who is keen to progress within medical secretarial administration. You will be part of a busy, friendly team providing essential support to our Private GPs, patients, and consultants across KIMS Hospital and Lyca Health sites.
About the Role
As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in ensuring our Private GP Service runs smoothly. You will need to be highly organised, forward-thinking, and able to multi-task while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing appointments, enquiries, dictations, and clinical correspondence
- Supporting the growth and smooth running of the Private GP Service across sites
- Acting as a link between patients and the hospital when required
- Audio typing and accurate preparation of medical letters
- Maintaining patient records, filing, and scanning documentation
- Liaising with patients, consultants, and colleagues across the hospital
- Triaging online appointment bookings and collating results for GP review
- Providing cover for colleagues during periods of absence
- Delivering a high standard of communication and compassionate support to patients
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised, reliable, and able to prioritise effectively
- Confident with both verbal and written communication
- Compassionate and patient-focused, with a professional approach
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing situations
- Computer literate with strong attention to detail
- A positive team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
Desirable skills include: prior administrative or secretarial experience, audio/touch typing, and proficiency in Excel.
