Hours: 37.5 Hours per week, 4 days per week between Monday and Saturday 08:00 – 18:00.

Are you patient focused, with a desire and proven ability to contribute to delivering healthcare at its best? Do you want to progress your career and skills? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Theatre Scheduler to join our Theatres team.

As a Theatre Coordinator, you will be responsible for scheduling all theatre bookings, ensuring an efficient and responsive service is provided to medical secretaries, consultants, NHS contract teams and hospital departments. You will maintain a clear code of conduct and high standards of customer service in terms of discretion, dignity, respect, and excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the appropriate management of theatre booking slots, liaising with Consultants, medical secretaries and hospital departments as required.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, ensure all information is attached to all booking forms (clinic letter).
  • Liaise with Theatre leads/ Billing/ Finance for any information regarding a procedure that may need costing before accepting booking forms.
  • To provide effective communication between the Medical Secretarial Department, Consultants and Patients, etc.
  • Provide non-clinical information to patients and families, where necessary, including cancellation of operation.

Person Specification

  • Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent).
  • Display excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work proactively, on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Possession of a secretarial qualification.
  • Experience of working in a hospital.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages or equivalent.
  • Maintaining administrative/secretarial systems.
