Working Pattern: 4 days per week, Monday to Saturday, between 07:30 and 18:00. You will work approximately 1 Saturday per month.
Salary: Β£36,267 β Β£48,000 per annum, depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Theatre Practitioner β Scrub to join our friendly and professional theatre team in Orpington.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Scrub Practitioner who is looking to develop their leadership experience and take on greater responsibility. You will continue to use your clinical expertise within the scrub role while playing an important part in leading surgical lists, supporting junior colleagues and helping to maintain the high standards for which our theatre department is known.
You will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetic colleagues, ODPs, nurses and other theatre professionals to ensure every patient receives safe, effective and compassionate care.
Working in elective private healthcare offers a different kind of perioperative experience. Our planned surgical environment allows you to prepare effectively for procedures, work closely with experienced consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues, and focus on delivering a high-quality experience for every patient.
What will you be doing?
- Work as an experienced Scrub Practitioner across surgical procedures.
- Take a lead role in the planning, organisation and running of surgical lists, ensuring they are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Provide support, guidance and mentorship to junior members of the theatre team, helping them develop their confidence and clinical skills.
- Deputise for the Lead when required, gaining valuable experience in theatre leadership and management.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetic colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient care.
- Liaise effectively with departments to support smooth and efficient patient pathways.
- Prepare rooms for surgery, ensuring the correct equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
- Promote effective use of resources and minimise waste while maintaining patient safety and quality.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support the continuous improvement of theatre services.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety and professional practice.
What are we looking for?
This role would suit an experienced Scrub Practitioner who is ready to step up and take on increased responsibility within a senior position.
You will be a confident, patient-focused practitioner with strong communication and team-building skills and the ability to lead by example.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Strong and current experience working within the Scrub environment.
- Experience of leading, planning and organising surgical lists.
- Experience of supervising or supporting other members of the theatre team.
- The ability to work confidently as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate strong clinical leadership.
- A commitment to delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate patient care.
- Post-registration qualification as a Practice Supervisor or Practice Assessor.
- Post-registration qualification as a Surgical First Assistant.
- Experience across both Scrub and Anaesthetics within a perioperative environment.
- Previous experience within an acute NHS or private hospital.
