Are you an experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have a keen interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and a desire to mentor a team? We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced ODP or Theatre Nurse to take the next step in their career by joining our dedicated, AfPP accredited, perioperative team as a Lead Theatre Practitioner - Orthopaedic.

You will be a senior member of the team, working to ensure the highest standards of clinical care for our patients and providing clinical leadership to the general surgery team. You will be a patient focused ODP or Registered Nurse with experience working within at least two areas of the perioperative environment as an anaesthetic, scrub and/or recovery theatre practitioner in an acute hospital. You will be working 40 hours per week. Shifts will be 10 hours between the hours of 07:30 and 19:45, 4 days per week working between Monday and Saturday. You will be required to work 1 Saturday in 4, and remain on call for that weekend.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work as the Lead member of the Orthopaedic team, working flexibly across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery.
  • Prepare operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required to include equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring appropriate use of resources.
  • Assessing patient care requirements, implement care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Lead, train and inspire junior members of staff.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments including Sterile Services, Wards, and Imaging department to ensure efficient patient care.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).
  • Have significant post registration clinical experience as a Senior Theatre practitioner in an acute hospital (NHS or Private).
  • Be proficient in providing assistance during a wide range of surgical lists.
  • Have experience in planning, organising and running lists within the theatre suite.

Desirable:

  • Have postgraduate clinical qualification in a speciality or as Surgical First Assistant.
  • Have experience working in Orthopaedic Surgery.
