As a member of the Northfleet Mill Reliability Workshop Team, you will have exposure to a wide range of engineering technology, from heavy industrial machines in the Papermill through to the latest robotic technology in our Packaging assets. You will be involved in the following:
- Scheduled maintenance tasks across all areas of the site including:
- Steam Generation
- Water Treatment Systems
- Paper Manufacturing Equipment
- Converting Equipment
- Packaging
- Robot Palletising
- Product Distribution
- Lathes
- Milling Machines
- Pillar Drills
- Grinders
- Fabrication and welding
- Installation
- Fault Finding, Diagnosis and repair
- Preventative Maintenance
- Calibration
- Improvement Project Work, from design to delivery
- Thermographic Surveys
- Bench fitting
- Pump, gearbox, valve repairs
- Fault Finding, Diagnosis and repair
- Preventative Maintenance
Your training & qualifications you will receive
- Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Diploma (BTEC Pearson)
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (EAL)
- Level 3 Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician Standard (Apprenticeship Certificate)
- HNC in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Entry requirements
Minimum 4 GCSEs (9–5/A*–C) including English, Mathematics, Science and Design Technology.
Where this can take you
Complete the apprenticeship and you could progress to a higher-level apprenticeship, degree and full-time employment. You’ll build interchangeable skills and an in-depth understanding of manufacturing whilst opening doors to Technician or Engineer roles.
