If you are a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking for a rewarding and challenging role, come and join our CQC rated 'Outstanding' Trust. We currently have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. You will deliver a high quality, safe and effective pharmacy service to our community health and mental health services across all our sites in Berkshire. We are a small friendly team, based at Prospect Park Hospital in Reading where our dispensary is located. You will have the opportunity to work at our community hospitals across Berkshire including Slough, Newbury, Wokingham, Maidenhead and Reading, as well as on the mental health wards at Prospect Park hospital. Our working hours are currently 09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday with you also working a late shift in the dispensary on a rota basis, which means no nights or weekends. We offer free parking on site.

Main duties of the job:

  • Deliver fast and effective pharmacy services to the wards and departments
  • Complete accuracy checking sessions
  • Provide an admission, supply and discharge service to nominated wards
  • Check Patients' Own Drugs (PODs)
  • Undertake medicines reconciliation
  • Support patients to ensure that they get the best possible outcomes from their medicines
  • Provide a ward top-up service
  • Work with the clozapine clinic team to ensure medicines are ready for the Trust wide clinics
  • Develop skills and knowledge as part of a commitment to CPD and Clinical Supervision
  • Provide support to Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and support workers while they undertake their learning

Person Specification:

  • Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC
  • Approved ward-based qualification to include POD checking, Supply and Medicines Reconciliation, or commitment to work towards this
  • Approved Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification or commitment to work towards this
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development relevant to job role
  • Commitment to undertake appropriate pharmacy accreditations as part of career progression
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability and willingness to travel between Trust locations within Berkshire in a timely manner when public transport may not be available

Desirable:

  • Formal training in Supervisory skills
  • Current ward-based pharmacy technician experiences including POD checking, supply, and medicines reconciliation
  • Current accuracy checking skills
  • Experience of hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of mental health pharmacy
  • Experience in the supervision of technical and support staff
  • Experience of using EMIS
