Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Technician to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for supporting sales and purchase ledger, completing bank reconciliations, statutory reporting and assisting with month end and year end accounts preparation. In addition, the role will provide ad hoc support to the Financial Controller, Finance Director and Finance Business Partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to the finance team across sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking, credit control and general financial processing, including:
    • Provide sales ledger processing support and query resolution;
    • Review the purchase ledger for anomalies;
    • Review the General Ledger entries on a monthly basis;
    • Manage and complete the reconciliation of the banks, following up with any queries;
    • Maintain and update company process documentation relevant to the finance function.
  • Assist with end of month and end of year accounts preparation and analysis;
  • Reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts (banks, stocks, fixed assets, prepayments/accruals, intercompany balances);
  • Calculating and posting recurring journals (depreciation, amortisation, rebates accrual);
  • Year end audit information;
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of KPIs to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function;
  • Provide recommendations for system and process improvement;
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and statutory returns (VAT/EC Sales/Intrastat/Aggregate Levy) to ensure compliance with legislation, financial instructions, scheme of delegation, policies, procedures and best practice;
  • Provide support to customers by developing and maintaining relationships which drive the performance of both the customers business and that of Kilwaughter;
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Financial Controller, Finance Director, Project Accountant and wider business;
  • Be an ambassador for the company’s values and at the forefront of a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Accounts Technician (ATI or equivalent) or a part-qualified accountant (CIMA, CAI, ACCA or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 3 years experience gained in a similar role.
  • Experience of using an ERP system, and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in liaising & communicating effectively with non-finance team members.
  • Experience within a Manufacturing environment or FMCG, desirable.
