Following our client's successful launch of their Newbury (Reading) unit earlier this year, they are expanding their commercial team there. The Newbury team has flourished, having secured further long-term cyclical contracts beyond its budget, creating a stable order book for its bright future. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can share in this growth ethos. Honesty, integrity and teamwork will be at the heart of what they do. There is a permanent full-time option, and they can consider someone working part-time if that is preferred.
Ideally, they are looking for Quantity Surveyor experience dealing with and working with direct labour teams, timesheets, etc. A background in brickwork, plastering, roofing, civils, or new builds in terms of QS would be suitable, along with tendering, estimating and refurbishments. Dealing with direct teams is a big plus. They operate a dedicated Painting and Decorating and related refurbishment service to public, private, residential and educational sectors. Experience with direct labour teams and related trades is advantageous.

They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their paintings team. The main customer base is Social Housing, Council/Local Authority, and Housing Associations, so highlight any experience in these sectors or projects as this is advantageous. Responsibilities:- Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
- Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.
- Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
- Build strong client and supplier relations to discuss variations and progress of contracts and seek mutual solutions.
- Complete and analyse weekly site reporting, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety).
- You will be inquisitive, organized, and honest, and a genuine people person who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and colleagues.

- Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role, with commercial management of projects from tender through to final account.
