Our client is expanding their commercial team out of their Liverpool office (Speke). They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can share in this growth ethos. Honesty, integrity and teamwork will be at the heart of what they do. People-focused and entrepreneurial, you will join the dedicated commercial and operational team, which specialises in painting, decorating and associated planned refurbishment works in the Liverpool area. You will be working for clients across a variety of sectors including hospitals, higher education and social housing.

Salary: Β£56,565 inc car allowance (Β£6,700) plus fuel card, profit share last year 14%, private health, pension, life, etc.

Role and responsibilities:

  • As a Quantity Surveyor, you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite and liaise with direct labour at the client.
  • Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
  • Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.
  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
  • Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual solutions are sought.
  • Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety).

  • You will be inquisitive, organised, and honest as well as being a genuine people person who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues.
  • Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role.
  • Experience of the commercial management of projects from tender and estimation stages through to final account.
  • Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to Β£3 million annually.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, and areas for negotiation and better gains.
  • You will describe yourself as commercial, analytical, and accurate in your approach.
