Kiloh Associates is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team to support our expanding portfolio of work.

As a Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing safe, robust, and cost-effective designs for temporary works required during construction processes.
  • Collaborating with site teams, contractors, and design professionals to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Designing temporary works schemes including falsework, formwork, scaffolding, shoring, propping, hoardings, and crane platforms.
  • Preparing detailed calculations, technical drawings, and comprehensive design risk assessments.
  • Collaborating within the design team, seeking supervision when necessary and providing leadership to junior team members as required.
  • Delivering design outputs that fully adhere to company procedures and quality standards.
  • Communicating complex technical design issues effectively with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Interpreting briefing information accurately, applying relevant design codes and standards, and utilizing appropriate design software efficiently.
  • Leading site inspections and surveys, actively participating in technical correspondence and meetings with third parties.
  • Ensuring designs and work practices meet the commercial and project-specific requirements.
  • Providing engineering support during construction planning and delivery phases.
  • Conducting site visits to assess design needs or verify installation integrity.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of temporary works procedures, systems, and best practices.

Minimum requirements:

  • 2–3 years of experience in temporary works or structural design.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., TEDDS, STAAD, Robot, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages.
  • Site experience in a construction or contractor environment.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor training (CITB preferred).
